  • Speaker: Jake Jabs-Founder and CEO of American Furniture Warehouse

    Jake Jabs is well known in Colorado for his folksy TV commercials with exotic animals for American Furniture Warehouse, Jake who is a straight talking and hard working everyman that represents the quintessentially rags to riches American success story.    After military service Jake started out as a musician playing lead guitar with Marty Robbins then ending up owning a music store in Bozeman, Montana, further expanding to three music stores in Montana.  Eventually Jake tired of the major music equipment manufacturers like Gibson Guitars dictating pricing and product strategies which lead to Jake embracing a non-manufacturer controlled free and open retail model that has a product channel direct from the factory to the retailer which the furniture field seemed to best accommodate.  Jake moved his major operation to Denver due to various business sale opportunities started American Furniture Warehouse in 1975 growing to 12 stores, almost $400 million in sales, and 2000 employees, being one of the largest privately held businesses in Colorado.   Jakes has authored numerous books and given tens of millions of dollars to charity and education.

BIO
Anthony Prichard is a product of the 1st generation of the internet educated student. Graduating High School in 97' the same year that widespread internet use started in earnest. Business Management was his major and as a student athlete Anthony was in the 2002 NFL draft as a punter and kick off specialist. Being raised from a family of sales professionals Anthony went right into Telecom because he was taught that he would never be out of a job if he could generate interest and conduct a sales transaction. Because, there is no "business" without a sale.

He started his own General Construction company in 2005 and stayed up late at night teaching himself how to use the internet to market himself and get found. "Triage Remodeling" unfortunately closed for business in 2009 with the real estate crash but not because people didn't know who he was. Anthony was one of the 1st businesses to post before during and after videos of the remodeling process on YouTube.
The largest group of foundation repair contractors in America hired Anthony to be a direct in-home design specialist and with the help of amazing leadership and training videos for every step of their business process Anthony elevated his video and internet education even more. Naturally being drawn to the fastest moving parts of business Anthony was still in awe with all of the emerging internet technology while some of his superiors were quick to ignore the fast moving changes happening on the internet.
He decided to follow his passion for internet technology and struck out on his own to help other small businesses realize the power of video on the internet and since then has been a Google expert.  Now with the ability to market and sell using the internet Globally Anthony teaches groups of business people how to understand and apply the basics of internet SEO.

Special Denver Metro Area Inventors Meeting on will be announced in the future being from 6PM to 8PM, for Learning How to do a Top Quality Patent Search (note this class is repeated every quarter or so, due to its popularity);

Speaker: Training staff at the Denver Public Library

Topic:  Hands on (on computer terminal) training for PubWEST  - US Patent Office patent & patent application publication search tool.   In addition, the Denver Public Library will have the capability of the US Patent Office PubEAST system, which is the search tool for accessing multiple patent and publication databases worldwide, if you learn this system PubEAST and PubWESTyou will have the same capability as an Examiner at the US Patent Office for quality searching.   We will also discuss the world wide patent technology classification system termed the Cooperative Patent Classification or CPC system this will make worldwide searching much more efficient as every patent office in the world will have the same technology classification system.

Time: 6:00PM to 8:00PM

In conjunction with our affiliation with the Denver Public Library and in accordance with the Rocky Mountain Inventors Association (RMIA) mission to be an inventors non-profit educational organization we are offering training for you the inventor to become a top quality searcher and to save hundreds if not thousands of dollars, so why pay for someone else to do your search when you can learn to do a top quality search yourself, especially if you have numerous ideas you want to check out search wise.

The location is at the Denver Public Library-Main Branch 13th & Broadway, NW corner-go to the 3rd floor to "Reference" located on the (south central side of building) map link here and ask for access to "PubWEST" (they will help you) which is the enhanced patent search system that Patent Examiners use at the Patent Office in Washington DC-"PubWEST" has enhanced features for searching that are NOT available online-this is only available locally at the Denver Public Library and the Denver Patent Office (when it opens this July), this is the best searching you can do, as it is the same system that the Patent Office Examiners use (note this is NOT available online)-so if you are serious about doing a quality search, this is a must attend-meeting size is limited to 12 people who can have "hands-on" learning on a terminal, we can accommodate more than 12 people, but you will just be able to watch the training, we will have another class if needed.      Click here to learn more about how PubWEST is superior as compared to general online search.   Note that for the training class only-go up to the 4th floor directly above the previously identified "Reference" to the small computer training room for the class, however, for just using the PubWEST on your own, then you go to the 3rd floor Reference.   On parking, area street parking on AcomaBannock, and 12th, as the street parking meters are free after 6PM, you may have to pay for 15 minutes at 25 cents, or you can park in the Art Museum garage for $4 for the evening-enter the garage on 12th between Broadway and Acoma.
